And honestly? Who can blame her? The woman works hard, she doesn’t make a lot of money, and maybe some good ‘ol fashioned R&R&Orgasms will make her season. “Yeh can take ‘em t’ the kiln outside’a Haulani. East side. Give ‘em to my brother.” Fixing me with a hard look, it’s clear she still ain’t happy with me and my actions. “You tell that Gov’ner of yers that ‘e needs to do somethin’ fer the people. Not just mermaids.”
But as far as I can tell, there’ll be no more cursin’ at me. So I nod. “‘ll pass it on. And Saiden will send a letter with your dinner invitation later.” As she leaves, escorted by El, I call out a reminder to the smuggler. “Don’t forget to tell ‘em to bill The Gov’ner.”
As for me ‘n Saiden, I gesture towards the door as well. “We can probably make it in two trips. Come on, I think I remember where the kiln is.” Picking up my crate, I step out onto the streets and head for the east side’a Haulani, wondering what kinda whispers I’m gonna start hearin’ about me.
