Loren narrowed his eyes. Pressing his lips together, his expression grew firm. "I will do whatever it takes to make sure the damage she can do is limited."
Shaking his head at Weaver's words, he reached up to cup her cheek, stroking it softly. "If we had dealt with her before, stood up to her, when we should have, she would never have gone this far." However, they'd agreed to spend some time not talking or thinking about Zariah, and he intended to do just that.
Holding her as long as she let him, he took her hand and the towel she offered. Drying himself off, he slipped into bed with her. Pressing a kiss to her forehead, and then her lips, he shifted until they were both in a comfortable position. Cradling her in his arms, he didn't sleep, exactly. But they both managed to steal a few hours of peace before the world got in the way again.
If he'd known this was going to be one of his last nights with her, he would've done so much more.
