Sunjata could linger in this moment forever if he wanted to — and gods wouldn’t that be nice? To sit there and watch as things went by, never fully in the danger of crawling home with blood everywhere, requiring stitches with the problems of blood loss making his mind fuzzy. But the thought doesn’t last, because the path he’s chosen to go on was dangerous and problematic, and it was the first of many as he’s sure will come. He only hopes that he hasn’t made a mistake in getting too involved in his head before diving into the danger to think what Nate might think.
But that’s a topic for later, as he still plans to bring it up. Nate can’t quite pretend to get out of it just yet. Sunjata plays along, for the ease and the memory this day would spark of a simple mörning with breakfast and coffee and cigarette smoke lingering in the air while the star whale and griffin play outside in the morning sunlight.
He sits at the table, his right hand leaving Nate’s hair to withdraw back toward himself, feeling Nate’s leg as it drapes across him and he hums a soft laugh as he rests that same hand along the Ascended’s thigh. But he picks up his fork with his dominant hand, choosing to pick a bit of egg, potato, and the porridge mixture all into the fork, pausing in wait for Nate to take a bite as the words leave the Ascended’s lips. There’s a hum of laughter that leaves Sunjata, flashing a rogue smirk his way., flashing off the poisonous fangs of his cobra shift briefly before his teeth shift back and he can focus on food. “Poison isn’t on my agenda today, unless I’m the one doing the poisoning.” He winks back, settling into the ease of it as he takes his own bite.
Nate’s unnatural stare has never bothered Sunjata, where it might have bothered others. And when he downs the first bite with an appreciative and relieved sigh, he squeezes Nate’s leg as he moves the fork in to grab a bit bigger of a bite, flashing a grin toward him as he adds another bit of playfulness. “This is really good... I didn’t do too bad of a job.” He winks yet again, a louder laugh leaving him with the statement of taking the blame from earlier, settling in comfortably to taking the credit where he absolutely had none. Still, he returns to his bowl, not realizing just how hungry he is, and continues to eat.
