But it didn't dawn on him until Chuy was already retching, and by that time, it was too late to do anything but follow along, steady the man as best he could. Even with guilt roiling with the bile in his throat, it felt more alright to lash out now that the immediate danger was lessened. Not gone, mind; still had to get the fucker indoors.
"Can you stand? Gotta get you inside." And himself too, probably. Without his coat the boy was already shivering, the cold far too intense to withstand in only under layers.
Pushing up on his knees, he offered steadying hands in case Chulane attempted to rise. And if not... eh... well, he would think of something.
