The voice made him jump, and with a light snap the lockpick snapped in his fingers. Korbin bolted from the door he'd been trying to break into and ran away like a rabbit before he even processed who ut was or how they'd suck up on him. The boy didn't get many paces before his weakened body betrayed him. His knees buckled and he crashed headlong into the snow, the bottle smashing against the frozen ground. The reek of strong liquour filled the air, and it made his stomach roil again. But though he tried, though he somehow wobbled up on hands and knees and retched, there was nothing more in his stomach to expel.
He was a mess. Too drunk to be coherent. Bloodied, bruised and unwashed, the clothes in as sorry a state as he was. The glare he tried to level at Chulane through swollen eyelids was unfocused and quite unimpressive. Like the growling of a half-drowned pup.

Blinking, he watched the blood spread into the snow. Numbly fascinated by the slow trickle of the dark stain.
