"Good." Bastien said simply. He was not a man for long revenge quests, could hardly hold a grudge; hell, he'd forgiven or at least pushed aside his rage at Deimos within moments. Still, something in him felt comforted by the idea that he'd get to have some kind of comeuppance with Samuel, who even before Rexanna's death had glibly thrown her in danger several times.
The news about the man certainly would have been an interesting aside at any other time, but there were indeed far more pressing issues. Deciding that was something to deal with (and distract himself with) once he'd crawled out of the pit he was in, he moved on.
Turned out there were more Ascended than he knew of, even some 'twins' that had completely escaped his notice; nodding and shrugging his misgiving away, he wondered if he was going to have to shield mourning visits from every one of them in the next couple of days: he wasn't sure he could take that. ...Especially not if they touched Rexanna as Wessex was doing now, touching clothes in way he wasn't sure his wife would have let someone in her life.
"Please," He asked, gently and quietly. "Only her hands. I do not wish to chide, but I find myself feeling very protective of her at the moment. It pains me to let anyone else look at her, let alone..." With a choked up sob threatening to rise in his throat he blinked and looked away, shaking his head. It was odd, where grief chose to hit.
