the resurrected sword
Last year they’d prepared, they’d built stalls, they’d spread lines and figments, décor and adornments, over the Fields, granted and given their time, hoping for another festive experience, a time to celebrate survival. Another LongNight where their souls hadn’t been extinguished amidst the monsters, the demons, the devils.
And then that’d been ruined too.
The Sword had been hesitant to do much of anything for Fiat Lux again – presumed there was another act of betrayal or catastrophe layered beneath it, that all the death, panic, catastrophe, and anguish associated with the latter’s might carry over. Their luck had run out, no longer prevailing – and perhaps it was best that they would hold it somewhere else, the stigma striving to wear off, to be grand and wonderful in another land.
But then again, proffering an extension of means and measures didn’t require he, or anyone else who recalled, who remembered, attend the party. So, per the normal stance of him offering, guiding, striving, he’d put up a notice along the boards, inquiring for willing hands, and then after completing his duties at the barracks, marched towards the Artisan’s Guild.
Within the workshop he’d already left out flowers and reeds for flower crowns (hoping someone else knew how to make those because while he’d worn many – now there was a thought, image, he rarely conjured – constructing them had never been in his repertoire), and other matters, artifacts, to conjure and implement to their making.
