I was so focused on gettin’ away, so ready to pull the two idiots back from the water when that horrid whisper finds its way into my head again. I freeze, because I guess old habits die real fuckin’ hard, half expecting a bamboo cane to come whistlin’ my way even though it’s been what - thirteen? - years since Pa disappeared.
