Oh, she knows it breaks him. She knows how he carries himself strong, hiding away the sorrows and regrets of a life lost to the abyss of portals, only to arrive here and have all hope dashed away in an instant. Dream Kiada knows this, and still it doesn’t make it hurt any less for her. All she can do is be brave, put on a soft smile, cradle him close as he does her. “I know, Chuy.” She says softly, a quiet sigh passing through her lips.
At least he doesn’t have to say goodbye yet, and it’s that switch that has her drifting closer – running her hands through his dark hair as she had so many times before. He pulls her closer and she angles her head to make room for him there in the crook of it, to smell the cinders of flame, the smoke of wood burning. “I did make coffee. Unfortunately not very well, but I tried.” She offers with a quiet laugh, wrapping her arms around him softly so that she might push him further back into the bed until his back rests against the headboard and his lap be available for her to sit.
“I’m a baker, not a cook.” She murmurs softly, flashing him a grin before settling in, reaching over to grab his mug, letting his hands remain on her wherever he wished them to. “But I did make it just as sweet as you like it.”
