Aw, beans. That whole "everybody knows Fae are always telling the truth" thing was awfully inconvenient, huh? The bystanders clearly believed Alina over Theo, and while he could have challenged her further and maybe even gotten her story all twisted up in his clever lies -- at least, he thought they were clever -- he did hesitate to do so with her spear at his throat. Trying to wriggle out of this one hadn't exactly turned out well so far. Maybe it was time to just take the L let it go, allow his ill-gotten gains to be returned to their owners and go home. Assuming the Fae would let him go home.
