He had circled the outskirts of the hollowed ground when he'd first arrived, pacing the limits of the cage that bound them but instinctively staying a safe distance from the strange barrier that kept them all in... and the world beyond, out.

He hadn't been on Caido long enough to explore even all there was to offer within the limits of their cage, though some places he knew far better than others by now. Still, with all the talk of slaying the spire monster and breaking the barrier, Jigano had decided it was time to come and do a little experimenting of his own, and to test the limits of what was known.

Isla had warned them not to get too close, and he intended to heed her words just as he had with the Spire itself, but there were still things he could learn just from walking in human form, studying the dusty stones, the ashy dirt, the way most life seemed to avoid the area nearest the barrier, and those small creatures he saw were often... changed.

The bard had just squatted down to investigate a small corpse - a squirrel, but one with too many eyes and a body covered in sores - making notes in a little journal already half-filled with his writing. His clothing was simple but well-made, in pale greens and greys, and a thick grey-furred cloak helped to both keep him warm and blended in with the wintry landscape. He hummed softly to himself as he worked - not a happy tune, but a slightly worried one as he took a stick to gently prod the little body over to its other side while he continued his examination.
