Sam laughed, a little too nervous to be convincingly casual about the matter. It was true, though: at the moment he was following the Voice's rules and serving her as he was meant to. The feeling of being watched simply made him wonder if anything he did was somehow wrong.
The ice was a comfort. At least they had something to fend against the heat, which was more than he could say for his escapades out to the Climb with Amun and Osozo. "Oh. I see. I didn't know you did that as well." For a moment it was quiet, Sam lowering himself down from a rock (with his short stature, he had to be careful with the sudden rocky dips of the Climb), but then he decided to ask more, the conversation so far going surprisingly well. "Did you ask the Voice to keep your magic, or did it just happen?"
