Sugar calls a greeting in place of Ronin, since the Star is focused on breathing, on climbing, vaulting, on the blood pumping through his veins. But that's acknowledgement that Amalia is there, at least, and he does give her a brief nod as she falls into step beside him. The training grounds aren't large, but they're certainly enough, and whilst Ronin doesn't stop his training to chat with the Shield, once he's finished the next obstacle, he does lead them into one of the inner tracks which is just for laps.
