LOREN
Loren's thick and flexible hide kept the Ningos from damaging him. Unfortunately, he had to protect his face, and there were too many birds to effectively mount an offense on any one of them. If he tried to take one of the birds down, the rest of them would be free to pile on. So he bit and clawed and kept them at bay.
When Deimos arrived and took one down, the flock froze, terrified in the presence of yet another predator. Seizing the moment, the honey badger whirled. Sinking his teeth into the neck of a Ningo behind him, he crushed it, shaking it and growling as he did to make sure it was dead. Freed from the terror, the rest of the birds scattered again, squawking with indignation.
