In something unavoidable, he could at least attempt to lessen the blow, so it wasn’t as impacting, malicious, or goading in the future. A shift in position permitted Loren’s fist to land directly into the peak of his muscle, where it throbbed, a dull ache, but wouldn’t leave him agonizing or incapable of carrying on.
Which he continued on thereafter, right arm and fist drawn back, the nuance of a bruise warning him, but still gaining momentum, speed, and mettle, before drawing and pushing towards Loren’s ribs.
