From being an Abandoned who had rarely left the Hollowed Grounds, to embracing the call of adventure, to dying and being reborn first as an Ascended and then as an Ancient, Maea has gone through quite the amount of changes in her life. One thing remains common, though, in her attempts to find out just where she belongs; she’s always had a craving for knowledge which has brought her to so many places and to meet so many people here in Caido. We can’t wait to see what else is in store for her!
Congratulations, Maea!

The alchemist was walking back to his shop amidst a flurry of snow. The world felt crueler in this harsh flat-grey light and with the cold biting against his bones, but even the simple alchemist knew that things weren't objectively worse. Nothing was worse, nothing better. How could it be when there was no benchmark upon which to base anything? He'd been attacked, cursed, injured, kissed, criticized, reprimanded, and nearly died a handful of times now, despite having only been in this strange place since the middle of...of...well, whatever they called autumn here. Remi couldn't quite remember.
And so, sluggishly moving towards his shop, Remi sent his mind out to any birds that might be lingering on the rooftops. He had this power with felines too, but he'd been a bird for so much longer that his kinship with the species was so much more ingrained within him. Some might go so far as to say he was attuned to them, yuck yuck yuck.
Stretching his mind for the curious and flittery thoughts of the crows, Remi tried to navigate and negotiate this strange power he now had over his feathery friends. How far did it extend? Just what exactly could he compel them to do? That latter question was difficult to answer, for it wasn't in the man's nature to ever force a creature to do things against its instincts or will. Lost in this line of thought, wondering what sort of experiment he might do—something with food perhaps?—he stopped abruptly as he saw a rather shortish man peering into the window of one of the shops. A bakery, was it? A seamstress? Remi couldn't remember. But the door was just to the side...there was no reason for the stranger to be peering...
Immediately the kindly alchemist felt a bristling inside of himself, his predatory leonine nature wanting to strike. Quelling this emotion however, Remi exhaled a indeterminately calming breath. "Is there something you needed?" Remi called out, his thickly accented voice warm and polite despite the frigid air between he and Yll, as well as his mounting suspicions.
