It will have to be good for now, he supposes. The idea of it an echo in the back of his mind but something he doesn’t have the energy or the will to push into. He doesn’t know how as Nate backtracks, as he pushes it under the rug to pretend that it no longer exists when he had been the one to reveal it in the first place. But Sunjata plays along, pretends that Nate’s the magician and that he can hide away the problem for another time, perhaps one where he’s no longer aching if that day ever comes. I won’t ruin the surprise. He murmurs, soothing the worry in Nate as the desperate warmth ensconces him.
There’s a suggestion, one that trickles along his mind briefly before he exhales a warm breath against his husband’s neck, the Attuned’s head nodding, the wing withdrawn to let in the light of the room once again. And he finds the will within himself to push himself up, to a kneeling position on the floor with his hand outstretched to pull Nate up with him. “Will you carry me?” He asks, a soft edged smile on his face, willing to try and help Nate in whatever way he can – even if it means pretending the conversation hadn’t happened, letting the Ascended carry him to the bedroom to band-aid it up more.
And like always, it surprises him with Nate’s ability to carry him. But as time goes on he finds he doesn’t mind it so much after all.
