Like some child possessed, the beast howls in my veins
The sun rose again, and with it, the honeybee stepped into the morning light, cast about along the waves. From the small distance amongst her maneuvering through the shallows, she could see the whale bone firmly tethered in its place, where she’d left it merely an evening before. True to her word, she returned on the basking currents, Fangorn on her shoulder, heart full and emanating, hoping to somehow, someway, make a helpful impact for those on board the Ark.
That they might find a way to elude the damned ghost whales.
Arriving at the shrine, her hand went to reach for the statue’s feet, and then once steadied, placed her grasp upon the bone. “Ludo,” she called into the early dawn, amongst the hels and the waves. “I’ve completed my tasks.” And hopefully, it’d be enough.
A bone found, washed for luck, and then held there, tied along the vestiges.
