The pain that crosses her face crosses his own too in the twitch of his eyebrows drawing together, but he remains steady, hand still resting on her shoulder as he goes to shake his head. “No. You’re very much awake.” He manages through a voice that cracks, as he swallows down and she’s pulling him in.

But she hesitates, scanning him over for injury and wounds, and while bandages do speckle his body, it’s mostly just scrapes and bruises now — what horrible wounds he’d sustained had been mostly healed thanks to Vervain. But he lets her look, before he pulls her into his lap, wraps his arms around her more fully and buried his face into her blonde hair.
“Vai found me washed up in the Fingers. She… Told me how long it’s been. I’m sorry.” He begins, resting his head along her shoulder. “I just saw Nate and then came up to see you.”
