"You will never please everyone." It's all Isla can really offer, because it's true. Someone, somewhere, Ascended or otherwise, would always take issue with what Sam is trying to achieve, and knowing that and not trying to change it would probably be more productive in the long run. "Even if it doesn't lessen their opinions of us, at the very least it should make the Grounds a safer place to live." And if more people wanted to live in the Grounds, they would become more inclusive all the time.

"It feels like something I ought to know about. What is it?" she asks, tilting her head at Sam and smiling gently to hear the Atheneum praised as a more suitable meeting place for their organisation. "I wonder if there is anything in the library about this Order, too."
