Pet listens to Adams words, to the explanation, silent and still. It’s all so perfectly crafted to spare his feelings, to be gentle. It only makes everything worse, far more painful. Standing suddenly, back straight and gaze still far, far away, Pet nods, as if that means anything at all. ”I think... I think...” He doesn’t know what he thinks. He knows his chest aches, he knows there’s nothing but numbness in his head, he knows that the only thing that falls off his lips is a question he doesn’t want answered. Is a question that he needs answered. ”Do... d-do you love her more... more than me?”
