She made it sound like he was some brick wall to be worn down and apart, and nearly commented on it when he realized there was some truth to the matter, and kept that hidden too. “Dragons probably should not be first on the list,” he commented with those hints of bemusement, with lingering smiles often a touch too burdened – eyes flickering down towards the ground, beyond his dangling legs and the wall holding them upright. Maybe he was just hungry. “Food?” He offered, by means of leaving for a moment to go find something in the cabinets.
But her question kept him there for now – watching very carefully, tilting his head a fraction. At the inquiry, however, another chuckle conjured and emerged, because the explanation and notion was going to sound very childish. “I offered it a carrot,” and he said this low, as if Zuriel would somehow hear about his sharing of her treats. “And it spit it out in the water and left. Rejected.” He permitted the somber affect to remain for a second more, before the grin reappeared, juvenile all over again.
