Perhaps there was a tricky sprite, sent from the Eirachi or some other entity with a devious mind, following at the heels of the general. Perhaps he had not rested enough. Perhaps his mind was elsewhere. Whatever the cause, the warlord seemed to be sitting in a rut, his luck just out of reach. As the warrior attempted to lift the siding to the exterior walls, he found that it was covered in ice and rather hard to keep hold of. Repeatedly the siding slipped from Deimos fingers. Eventually, either through grit or frustration, or both, the general is able to place the siding. It is not graceful, and it takes the rest of the afternoon, but eventually the task is finished.

The women band together inside of the nearly-finished room, working to place the siding. Elide is able to express her experience here. The ascended woman places each set she lifts easily enough, though struggles to hold each in place while she hammers in the nails to hold it. It is not the most beautiful job she has ever done, but at least she persists and is able to work through the problem. Hotaru does not find the same success. Like Deimos outside, dealing with the ice, Hotaru finds that the majority of her strength was used working beneath the floor. As she attempts to lift and hold each piece of siding, she drops more than she successfully places on the third try. Built from the same material and history as the general, however, she continues on. Unlike Deimos, though, Hotaru has Noah at her heels to help her hang the siding and nail it in place.

Noah was not surprised as each person moved forward with their chosen tasks. Each of them had enough tenacity within their hearts that they did not want what most would deem the easy job. The hunter took it, however, without debate. It left him the ability to lend a hand to those in need -- and there were some. Noah placed the insulation between the stud walls and the siding as they worked, trying his best to help Hotaru to keep her pieces in place so she could nail them in. This final task proved to be the longest, and when the hunter stepped back to examine the finished product there was little light left. "Wow, that was interesting." All he could do was chuckle and rub the back of his neck at this point. "Thank you all so much. I have some stew over in the main part of the house keeping warm over the hearth, as well as some tea and things. If you want anything stronger after--" the hunter gestured to the whole room with both hands, his face twisting in a painful expression of both humor and embarrassment -- "--you can charge whatever you want at the Kraai to me."
