Her leg extends and presses against his thigh and he readjusts the book in his lap so that his free hand can move to rest on her calf, offering whatever warmth he can from this distance. A nod is given to her thanks, before his question is aired and she drops his gaze nearly immediately.
He works at his lower lip, a slow exhale leaving him as he nods. “Why not?” He asks instead, choosing not to berate her or anything. Gods knew it was hard enough for Sunjata to take his own medicine half the time – though most of that was due to his own self destructive tendencies, of wanting to feel the pain rather than mask it away.
It’s part of the reason he still has so many scars, why he’s so stubborn when it comes to healing.
