Perhaps for the first time, Kiada wonders if he’s lying to her, to save the fact that destroying the Voice would destroy her. She wonders if he realizes it and still chooses it. But she nods to him regardless when he mentions that they talked over things he needed to hear, while Kiada straightens up a bit, regards Deimos as equally as he regards her.
When war comes, she gets the undertones, not to sacrifice or bargain for him. And she nods, exhaling a slow sigh because she isn’t sure what to say to it.
Truthfully, it isn’t him she’s worried about. “Okay.” She says quietly, wondering whether it would do any good to bite her tongue on her own fears. It’s never worked in her favor before, though.
“I’m not… Worried about you, with the war, Deimos.” She comments softly, trying to pick her words carefully. “I know you. You can handle yourself. But… It sounds like you’ve picked her side. Safrin’s.” If anything, these last few months and seasons since she’d arose again, she’d come to terms with the Voice, had learned to appreciate her, had learned to appreciate others that weren’t as forthcoming as Wessex – like Adam and Nate and Isla.
