"Hello?" Juniper came from her office, the door on the right behind the embassy's reception desk, which was unmanned, for the moment. Eventually she hoped to find some likely young Fae to sit there and greet visitors, but she hadn't yet. but it's the easiest thing to do
Only part of Nephele's call had made it back to Juniper's office -- she'd heard her name, but not Nephele's, so her eyes widened in surprise on seeing her. Then her expression turned into a broad smile, delighted by Nephele's return. "Nephele! You're back! I'm so glad to see you -- I had feared ..."
She let that trail off, not wanting to dwell on her fears. A moment's anxiety rose as well -- would Nephele, who had given her the diplomat's job, approve of how she'd carried it out? But Juniper swept that away easily, because she knew she'd done well, whatever some of the more old-fashioned Fae said.
"Come in, come in -- we can sit in the meeting room," Juniper offered, beckoning Nephele over to the other door: it led to the aforementioned meeting room, which held both a conference table and a comfortable seating area. "Where have you been? If you don't mind me asking."
