It doesn’t last as the snowball hits its target, though, and Varus is walking toward that very same rock – noticing that Isla’s fallen behind, but he continues to step forward, crunching through the snow. “Easy peasy, then!” He says, unable to keep the grin from his face – one that shifts into a gasp of surprise as he feels the thud of the snowball against his back.
And truly, that means war.
There’s a shift in him, his shoulders straightening and the Ascended glances back at her from over his shoulder, before he absolutely dives behind the shelter of the rock he’d thrown the snowball at, rolling more snow between his cool hands, before he pops out on the opposite side of the rock from where he dove, to lob the snowball back at her, aiming for her middle.
And then he dives behind it again, letting a bit of that soldier and assassin out for Isla to see in the name of a snowball fight.
