Another bark of laughter leaves him at the idea of having no honor, something uttered from him that’s half in agreement and half not, before he’s leaning into the kiss and shoving snow in her jacket, and bolting toward the sea of glass. He thinks he might be able to make it before her, he counts on it even, until she’s calling him by his full name and the shock of it sends him sliding in the snow, jolting to attention as she flies past him and the dip of a snowdrift catches him off guard.
“Hey that’s absolutely not fair!” He calls out to her back, laughing as he tries to jog and catch up, slipping this way and that against the ice he’s managed to find in his mad dash over. The sea of glass is right there before them now and Varus carefully tries to make his way to the edge, staring at a sheet of ice that sticks up on the embankment that’s clear enough to see through and absolutely distorts Isla’s face from where he looks through it. “Could chip off a piece of this maybe?” He asks, unable to keep the amused grin from his face with how Isla’s face seems shrunken in half.
