The Voice appearing is always a balm to the Ascended. Varus straightens up a fraction as their goddess shows, despite the way he still leans against the pillar – arms crossed. It’s looser, his gaze more attentive and bright, and when her warning is uttered, Varus understands. It’s the fear he’s had too, somewhere deep down at the thought of Remi being so close to Isla. But there’s something he hopes they can count on and that’s the demigod warning them, should there be a time they must worry about him.
So he pushes off the wall, stepping toward the Voice with a bright smile and a dip of his head. It might not be his place, but he’s content to offer the information he’s gathered as well. “If I might… Ludo’s demigod has told us he will warn us if he’s ever told to make a move against us.” For a moment, his lips twist and purse as he considers it.
He hopes they can count on it, but Varus has also been on the wrong end of the things he’d hoped very much for. So he takes a deep breath he doesn’t need, looks back unabashedly at his goddess. “I have been trying to train up to resume the same position in the war I held last time. I can speed it up, perhaps gather some that may be willing to be spies just as before, so if Remi fails to warn us or the Dragoons show, we’ll have a heads up?”
