"What the -- ?" Theo squawked, arms windmilling as he tried to keep his balance despite the dragon's weight on his shoulder. He should have tried to catch himself instead; he failed at both and hit the ground hard, scraping his face on the sand.
"Oww ... That was really rude, you know," he said to Gwyneverre, but even as he gave her this plaintive, half-joking complaint, the gravity of the situation started to dawn on him. That dragon did not look friendly; this was no prank or gentle hassling. He was actually in danger. "Hey, easy now, easy. You want a snack? Something shiny? We can work this out."
Theo had no idea yet that Gwyneverre wasn't alone. He shouldn't have been surprised, really, should have known that dragons and dragoons went together like Theo and theft, but he had little experience with Stormbreak's denizens. As far as he knew, Gwyneverre was feral.
