As a dragon, once again, Sunjata’s met Nate at the Hollowed Grounds before trekking into the Woodlands – a space Sunjata hasn’t inhabited in some time. Today, however, he arrives as a dragon, prepared to watch the bark of the trees, waiting to see whether a branch or two move to try and trap him and his husband. I think it’s this way. He rumbles mentally, something about his tone almost distanced, distracted. Distracted in a lot of ways – Hotaru, the task for Safrin, the fact they’re in the Grounds, the fact his husband’s missing half his hair for a reason he doesn’t quite know about but he does know that Nate’s head is bandaged up quite well and quite completely.
His wings are drawn in tight as he peers around for anything of note, trying to seem smaller despite the large bulk of his presence. So I thought I might tell you a ghost story from Korofi, if that’s something you think would be fun? He asks idly, almost as if he’s testing Nate – testing to see whether he was coherent enough to understand, if he was coherent enough to respond. Was it a bad idea to have brought him out here to face the wicker woman? Perhaps. I’m a dragon, he thinks, certainly I can handle a wicker woman.
Almost as if in answer, the dragon rumbles a quiet thrumming growl as Sunjata loosens his hold on it a fraction, keen eyes watching for movement.
