The dragon catches Jack's eye, and he holds Aidon's gaze right up until the point where Maeve's thoughts flicker in through the boundary of his magic. "I always do," he drawls when it comes to getting back home in one piece. It isn't the sea Jack has to fear - it's shit like this on his doorstep when he gets back to dry land. Looking the madame up and down, saying nothing but understanding everything, he follows in her footsteps (and her dragon's, of course), saying nothing further until they reach her office.

"The beginnin' is normally a good place," he remarks. "What happened? Why'd the Flood step down, and how'd you and Aurelia get here?"
