Edmund didn't realize why his mummy seemed confused. "Yes, mummy?" How could he have known that suddenly growing was such an odd occurrence? Edmund placed a few beautiful green stones into Maeve's hands. "These are for you mummy!" He held one out to her cheekbone proudly, "They look like your eyes!" Sure enough, the color was spot on. There were a few other identical stones in Edmund's pocket. Those were for him though.
The child giggled when his mum kissed his forehead, smiling sheepishly at her concern. "Sorry mummy. I'll be more careful. I just wanted to surprise you with the pretty stones." Edmund was too little to make a present in time for the season so this was the best that he could do. At least Maeve seemed to like the stones he'd brought.
