"Mateo?" The voice belongs to the male nurse, who, once upon a time, tried to kick Mateo out after the Italian had demanded to see his recently-stabbed friend. He's either forgotten the other man's face (how could you), or is pretending he has, as he nods for the coffee-wielding florist to come inside. "Ever was delayed. He says for you to wait." Rather ominously said, the nurse shrugs considering his job done. Actually, Ever had paid him $50 to tell Mateo that his outfit had had to quickly shower so that he wouldn't get blood on his clothes, and that he would be ready in no more than ten minutes' time.
Upstairs, Ever is frantically trying to balance the need to be fully and completely clean, with the need to be on time. With his anxiety skyrocketing and his skin growing pink and irritated from his scrubbing, Ever tries to take the most efficient shower known to man, all the while trying to ignore the voices in his mind telling him that he's ruining Mateo's special night by virtue of being late.
