They're going to a place where no one can follow. At least that's what the legends would have you believe. And there are so many legends about this place - about the Last Step - that a herd of skeletal luxere charging towards it will likely only add to the mystique.
And it's shaping up to be something truly enthralling as the ghostly deer make their way, looking as if they might leap right up the steps and away, only...
Only something spooks them. Them, creatures of the between, and whatever it is, it has them bleating and whipping away from the Last Step, fighting to get as far from it as their fleshless legs will allow.
And so they scatter in their fear, and among the crowd, Sunjata,Ray and Paige will notice, suddenly, that their paws and claws and anything else are coated in some stinking, slimy substance. And from his elevated position, Mateo will get a whiff of something horrifically sulphuric on the air.
