Nikolai makes a pained noise, "Still..." Shaking his head, the younger Ascended decides that he is done with that topic. It's easy to drop though given Nate's next words. The clear pain and anger in the Demi-god giving him pause. As Nate draws nearer, Nikolai has to fight the urge to flinch.
"No... I had heard of it, but I hadn't realized that it was here." Otherwise, he'd have never played a trick on Nate at the time. Nikolai was not one who liked to dig up other's painful memories and he felt a guilt surge through him. Guilt that mingled with horror as Nate continued.
"Burned Safrin out of you? What...?" What did that even mean? "What did Safrin do to you?" There was so much hatred and pain radiating off of Nate that Nikolai wasn't sure if he should run or try to comfort the Demi-god. He elected for simply standing there like an idiot.
