As much as Wessex wants to project the image of someone who gives no fucks, she is unable to hide the flicker of uncertainty as Cal takes his sweet, sweet time examining the space. Everything in her head tells her she’s done something good (at worst, misplaced energy that could have been spent elsewhere) but like trying to get rid of the LongNight monsters and leading her siblings into skirmishes, she’s found that her point of view is not universal. It’s an unusual place to be, wanting Cal’s approval, but here she is and maybe it’s just a testament to how much she values him.

And it was a team effort to build, but -” But yes, it had been her idea, which remains unsaid as she cuts herself off with a shrug.
