Her smile was bright and she rolled her eyes, flipping her hair over her shoulder in one smooth motion, "And yet I'm not nearly dramatic as you." She taunted, a laugh bubbling up inside of her before the conversation shifted, growing more serious with each passing moment. "You're likely right." Maeve agreed, brows raising as the cat swiped at him through one of the holes in the top of the box, almost catching his eye.
A heavy breath pushed past her lips, jade eyes slipping towards him, examining his expression as the conversation grew somber. A weight settling in the pit of her stomach, sinking down to her feet, almost making her feel sick with it. "I don't want it either, but there isn't much of a choice." Maeve ran a hand through her hair, digging the toe of her boot into the sand, turning over the damp granules. "Adam, if things seem bad here or you don't feel safe... I want you to leave. I- I'll try to keep it from being like that, but..." She didn't need to finish the sentence. Not when they both knew what she meant.
Maeve sighed, bending to grab the box as she did, straightening up after a moment. "Just take care of yourself, okay?" It's with a kiss to his cheek and a small smile that she left him there under the dock, not knowing this would be the last time she saw him.
