Closing his eyes he breathes in deeply, wondering not for the first time, if the pendulum of his personality might ever simply stop in the middle. "How?" He wonders. "I have never known how to be nice in a way that does not make me a push over, or easily abused. I don't know how to stand up for myself, especially not the way I am now, without it coming across as threatening."
