"The Old Gods won't let you get drunk either? Man, the Gods are a load of fuckin' nerds." Adam snorted with a dismissive wave of his hands towards the sky, where he still imagined all the Gods lived; a remnant of faith from his old world. "I tried to tell the Voice how lame it was that she made everyone go without sex n' drink, but she never talks to me." He shrugged, trying to seem like he simply didn't care, but there was an edge to his voice that hinted at hurt feelings.

He hadn't intended to make a philosophical statement and the way which Remi responded caught him by surprise. He frowned, his eyebrows furrowing just slightly, as he sat up and nudged some sand around the stone floor with the toe of his boot. "I dunno about that. I mean, I'm not afraid of people myself. But I'm afraida people hurtin' people I care about. Which, I know, is kind of fucking dumb when we're up to a war like we are." Adam wasn't usually one for big dramatic gestures, but he knew he'd willingly throw himself into danger for Pet a hundred more times.

It was good to talk to someone able to admit the Gods could be shitty. He'd never had any time for overly pious, blind faith. "So...do you like, still talk? I uh...I had this kind of...almost-sort of romantic thing with someone, but then she became a Demi-God and I got Ascended and..." He trailed off.
