Melita had been to the Climb before, but not to this extension. Given the nature of her quest, the location made sense – but she found upon stepping into its confines, that she greatly preferred the Frey’s Breath and waterfall portions to this. A child of the desert she might have been, but the Dragon’s Throat had been rich and teeming with life in so many other ways.
This was molten, dark, and sweltering.
“Gross,” she uttered under her breath, immediately pinning her long hair up and out of the way, already beginning to sweat. Turning to Fangorn, she shrugged her shoulders, and for once, was careful where she stepped. “Let’s just do this as quick as possible,” and the gourd resounded with some other grumble, which she took for agreement. At least volcanic rock would be easy to find – the whole god damned area was littered with it. “What’s so angelic about this place,” was a mutter too, wrinkling her nose at the distant isles, blackened, charred, and Stygian.
Eventually, she found a safer path, treading lightly, hands immediately fixing to some chunks already layered and flaking off.
