Ignoring, or completely oblivious to Sah’s smirk, the youth ventured on, following after Lily’s excellent tracking and sniffing skills – long limbs coasting after the wolf, arms already snagging at Fangorn so he didn’t get left behind.
Eventually the trail bent and rallied, opening up to a wider grove – where sunlight streamed in through clearings in the branches and canopies, and they would have to fall silent, or into tiptoes, to not scare the creatures within. “There they are,” Melita pointed and whispered, sliding into some nearby brush. Sure enough, the creatures were as she described, with horns, bright hues, and a nervous, twitchy air about them. Restless, perhaps, as most prey would have to be, occasionally lowering their heads to munch upon some grass and bark, and then bringing them up quickly, aiming to spot inevitable predators.
Them, essentially.
Maybe they were downwind enough so it wouldn’t be a problem – but the youth began to ready her bow anyway, sliding it quietly along the trace of her bracelet, hands going towards her quiver.
