Smelling isn’t exactly one of the ascendeds strong suits, though the sweetness in the air is strong enough Nate can’t help but notice it. It would go ignored if not for Sunjata’s interest, his husband ever his weak spot, in all the best ways. What they stumble upon is… almost cheesy, saccharine and over the top and immediately bringing a smile to Nate’s face that refuses to fall, even as he catches the first few glances of the others assembled, even as his gaze turns to Frey and he pauses, transfixed for a moment by steel eyes and freckles and less than cute thoughts about doppelgängers.
Shaking his head, Nate fixes a smile on his face and follows Sunjata’s lead as much as he can. There is more respect offered to Frey than Nate’s ever even felt for Safrin, his head bowing in the Heralds direction and his arm tightening around Sunjata’s waist. He’s content to let his husband set the pace for them, his bright eyes only lifting agaisn when they start to move, and eagerly roaming over everything, taking it all in.
Nate considers the other seat at the table before settling neatly on Sunjata’s lap, keeping a foot on the ground to alleviate some of his weight. “Think you’re right about that.” He purrs, ghosting kisses across Sunjata’s skin with every word. “Maybe we’ll get each other anyway.” It’s a cute thought, even if it goes against the spirit of the event. At least there’s almost no one he’d have an issue getting matched with.
