A notice had been posted in the Palace requesting help with a project in the ruins of Whitebrim - the construction of a waystation - for the benefit of hunters and travelers on the Tundra. The courier had struggled over the wording, but in the end had simply posted the blunt, awkward missive with a scrawled "Tal" at the bottom. Whether that would help or hurt his cause he didn't know.
And, stubbornly, refused to care.
When the day arrived, Tal ran the full team and the largest sled out to the distant town, loaded down with tools, planks, and general supplies. He picketed and fed the dogs and pulled the brazier and pot out of the sled, setting them up in the lee of a burned-out former building that had one lonely corner still standing - possibly due to the snow piled up and supporting it on the other side. Lighting the brazier from his fire pot, Tal coaxed the coal to life in the bed of kindling and then began to brew up the coffee for whoever would be joining him today. His axe remained conspicuously near at hand throughout, and the red malamute that sat beside him remained on alert.
High overhead a pale dragon circled, keen eyes on the lookout for the approach of friends - or for predators on the prowl in the nearby area.
