"An' I was hopin' for the wall repair," Tal admitted with a grin, waving to his compatriots as he headed to the sled for measuring line, saw, and wood. Home construction wasn't his forte, but he had a knack for woodworking trained around building and repairing his dogsleds that served him well as he measured and cut the planks that would, eventually, be swiftly hammered into place once the structural supports were replaced. The work progressed easily, with only a few bent nails to slow his pace.

Cordelia met with similar success. Although some of the rocks she chose proved to be cracked when turned over, many were still sound. It was slow but steady going to shift them one by one, but her strength was up to the challenge. She was able to carry her chosen load without further interference from weather, spirits, or local fauna.

Which left Deimos.

It could have been worse. In Whitebrim, there was always a way for things to be worse.

Broken glass littered the floor inside amid the remains of smashed and broken furnishings. Snow swirled lazily in drifts near the empty windows, but the building had clearly been abandoned for some time. Except... there were claw marks on some of the furniture, as from a large, annoyed paw. There were deep scratches in some of the floor boards, too, leading to the center of the main room where there might once have been a trap door. Now there was only a gaping hole in the wood leading to the cellar below.

There were bones in that cellar. BONES BONES BONES BONES Cracked, broken, almost unrecognizable bones. But this had been a cannibal's home, once. Certain assumptions could be made about the size of a splintered femur shaft, or a mandible broken in thirds. Others were more clearly those of luxere, reindeer, hare, or ningo. In whatever light Deimos chose to conjure, however, the most notable find in the cellar was the mummified body of a small ursur; 'small' being a relative term for a beast that had stood head and shoulders above the General in life. Both trapdoor and the rickety wooden stair that had once led down were smashed beneath the bear's body.

High overhead, Boreal circled, keeping her watch on the land around the burned out town. A lone dot appeared in the distance, moving towards the town at a slow, stuttering pace. The flickering, fitful glow about its head was enough to lull the dragon, however, and she merely snorted and continued her lonely vigil.

Congrats on Round 3!

Supplies have been successfully gathered by Cordelia and Talyson.

Deimos has found a dead ursur in the basement and a house in need of some serious fall cleaning.

You can either begin construction/cleaning on your own, ask for help, or go to assist someone else!

No posting order.
