Well, this was downright embarrassing: it took a lot to get Elyna to feel foolish, but a show of strength followed immediately by such a obvious demonstration of how weak she really was would do it. In fact, she couldn’t think of a single person who wouldn’t be mortified in her shoes. While there’d been no way to predict that the ground would shake just after her limbs would basically revolt and declare they no longer wished to work, she really should’ve remembered that daylight and her kind did not mix. Even if she could venture out in it and not cease to exist didn’t make that an advisable course of action. In the future, she would remember that she was a creature of the night now.

While Elyna wanted to declare that ‘of course she could walk, she wasn’t an invalid,’ the truth of the matter was, she wasn’t so sure. Whatever strange ability allowed her to walk under the sun without dying—and without a ring, which she still was getting used to—apparently didn’t extend to actually allowing her full use of her abilities and facilities. Great. Just great. This whole experience of being in this new world was turning into a nightmare (which, was funny, cause daylight and creature of the night and all that shit). Still, instead of asking either man for helping getting up, Elyna tried on her own first; picking up the glaive from where it had fallen even as she did, she used it to lever herself upright. After that, it turned into a crutch to help her stay on her feet. She was proud, not stupid, and if she needed the support so be it.

Listening to the two men talking about this world, her eyes narrowed: while she was still half-convinced that Rory had something to do with their appearance here, Remi seemed unwilling to confront the stranger and she certainly wasn’t in a position to. This sucked. More than anything she wanted to drag the random man back to their rudimentary encampment and get the answers they so badly needed. Instead, they'd have to try the gentle approach. Elyna hated that one.

Listening carefully to everything that came out of Rory’s mouth, Elyna allowed the alchemist to respond before interjecting. When both men, in their own way, tried to see if she could walk, she glared at them. ”I’ll manage.” It came out in a growl; if Rory and Remi wanted more from her, that was just too bad. ”Alright, couple questions, so-called Rory. First, where the fuck is Caido and how close is it to Northaven? Next, what kind of barrier? Who or what erected it? How can we get through it or take it down? Finally, what the fuck happened three centuries ago?” Clearly, she wasn’t even a little bit satisfied with his responses to their inquiries.

Of course at the mention of something worse maybe coming for them, Elyna immediately started scanning their surroundings; she might be useless in a fight, but nothing was wrong with her senses. Indeed, they were probably better than those of the men. Perks of being one of her kind and all. ”What do you mean, you don’t know? If it’s maybe a precursor to something worse presumably you’ve got some idea of what that something worse is. So spill. You're the expert, aren't you?” Her voice on that last comment was mocking and maybe a little cruel: so far, Rory hadn't impressed her and even in her weakened state he certainly didn't scare her. Glancing around at their surroundings again, she rolled her eyes. ”And what’s so bad about these outskirts anyway? Seem just as terrible as every other inch of this blighted place.” Sure, the ground was fucked up and ashy, but that was true everywhere and at least it was far away from that creepy as spire.
