Boreal, in her special harness, was in the wheel position and providing most of the power, though Tal was off the runners and pushing from behind. The sled might have been small, but it held two hefty barrels of the dried portion of the cold-set mortar mix that Tal had used on the Whitebrim waystation.
The sled pulled up at the site near the barracks and Tal unharnessed the animals, leaving the barrels for stronger individuals to unload. Bell curled up on the runners to guard the sled while Boreal ambled leisurely along at the courier's side as he trotted over to Deimos with a nod. "Thought the mortar might help later. Just need to melt some snow and mix it up over a fire," he explained, reaching down to check the pale Bag on his hip. His goggles were looped around his neck as always.
