Paige isn’t the only one excited. It had been torture to sit prim and well-mannered through Sah and Maeve’s reunion, restless and doing her best to hide it. She was happy to see Maeve of course, but there was someone else waiting for her in Torchline, and nobody could be more important than Paige. Not even Maeve.
When she is finally allowed to leave - with Lilly escorting her until she’s certain the girls have found each other - Soleil doesn’t bother concealing the fact that once her feet hit the sand, she runs. Bright amber eyes scanning, searching restlessly among the dotted boats and umbrellas as they thin out further down the coast. Only needing the briefest flicker of her eyes over each strange face to know it’s not Paige and dismiss them from her mind.
But then it is Paige, and excitement swells so fast into her throat that she squeaks with it. Lilly slows to watch from afar, giving the girls their privacy, and Soleil doesn’t even notice her sister’s absence. “Paige!” she calls as she wills her legs faster, needing the space between them to be gone already. Already she has had to wait an entire lonely season, every further minute chafes now that the older girl is finally in reach. She is still small compared to Paige even after a season; a brown skinned comet with a tail of gauzy fabric covering her swimsuit, natural hair tamed into a high ponytail that bounces with the volume of her condensed curls. And on her little face is a smile as bright as her namesake as she makes it to the shore and throws herself at Paige without a moment of hesitation, arms wrapping around the taller girl and burying her face into the tanned curve of the Attuned’s neck. Nuzzling there, inhaling her natural scent to refamiliarize herself with it. “I’ve missed you,” she whines slightly, emotional, but simultaneously incandescently happy.
