The group of women continued onwards, though Isla had no chance of being able to see well in this darkness. The curtains to either side of them seemed to flutter and dance, and she took shallow breaths through her nose. It stank of antiseptic, damp and dust in here. If there was a baby, Isla had no idea how it had survived in here. "Does anyone have a light?" she asked, feeling suddenly foolish not to have brought one. "It's still crying. Whatever it is, we might be able to search better if we can see all of the room..." So saying, she reached out to draw back one of the curtains suddenly, trying to see the cubicle beyond.
