Divine interventions and ridiculous intentions seemed to have awarded her with a worthy device.And when nothing could be done to it – no mark from a tool, no penchant from the heat of his infernal etchings (even if they’d been modest and not the full force of his power), the grin notched its way to a smirk. “Thank you for trying,” he rumbled towards the blacksmith. The flames dimmed under his command, until they were muted and diminished, back into the echoes of his veins, an arch to his brow as he glanced back at Evie – silent inquiries, perhaps, about what was next in store.
